Srinagar, Sep 12 (NVI): AIP Supremo & Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid offered a conditional support to INDIA alliance stating that if the alliance would bringing a resolution in Parliament for the restoration of Article 370, he would support them as well.
While addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Er Rashid said that in case of a written assurance by the alliance, he and his party would extend all-out support to INDIA alliance.
Elaborating further, Rashid strongly denied the charges of being an agent of Pakistan or an enemy of India. He also took potshots at National Conference leader Omar Abdullah as to why his party had not done during their rule what they are promising now.
Referring to the execution of Afzal Guru in 2013, Rashid said that could not have occurred without a nod from the then Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister. Rashid also drew a comparison between his five years of imprisonment in Tihar jail with the ‘five star’ comfort at SKICC.
Rashid also attacked PDP, accusing it of having “played a vital role in opening gates for BJP in Kashmir when according to the prevalent notion at that time, it had opposed and resisted the entry of BJP in the valley.” He framed his political fight against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Naya Kashmir” narrative, which he said had already failed.
On the question of probable future support to other regional parties like NC, Congress, or PDP, Rashid replied, “My decision would depend upon whether they come up with a clear roadmap over the restoration of Article 370.” (News Vibes of India)
