New Delhi (NVI): At least one worker was injured, after a series of explosions triggered a massive fire at a chemical plant in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam.
The fire accident at Ramky CETP Solvent’s building in Pharma City had already led to several injuries after a late night explosion yesterday, as per media reports.
This incident triggered panic among the residents in the Paravada area. However, the fire was doused completely after four hours of firefighting operations.
A worker sustained serious burn injuries, while three others who were also at the unit when the incident occurred escaped to safety.
The police officials said that the fire started from the reactor and spread to other parts. But main cause of the accident is currently being ascertained.
At least 12 fire tenders were deployed to douse the flames and officials struggled for four hours to bring the fire under control using chemical foam and water.
Earlier on May 7, a blast in LG Polymers plant in the city caused a massive gas leak which killed 14 people and sent several others to the emergency.
