Extremely heavy rainfall expected over East India

New Delhi: Eastern parts of India are likely to receive very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm and lightning, the IMD said today.   

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Assam & Meghalaya,” the India Meteorological Deparment (IMD) said.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Heavy Rainfall at isolated places over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Telangana,” it said.

“Thunderstorm with lightning very likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, it said in it’s daily weather bulletin.

It has also predicted heat wave conditions in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and West Rajasthan.

Strong Winds (speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) very likely over Southwest and Westcentral Arabian Sea, North Arabian sea and along & off Gujarat coast. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.
