New Delhi (NVI): A social media post is claiming that from April 1 onwards, Rs 25 will be charged for every cash withdrawal at the post office from account holders.

Refuting the claims, the Fact Check Unit of Press Information Bureau (PIB) took to Twitter and clarified that this message is fake and no such announcement has been made by the India Post Office.

“In a social media post, it is being claimed that for every cash withdrawal at the post office, Rs 25 will be recovered from account holders from April 1.

#PIBFactCheck: This claim is fake. @IndiaPostOffice has not announced the levy of any such charges on the withdrawal of money by account holders,” PIB tweeted in Hindi.

pic.twitter.com/0MGJl7WjzX

The PIB launched this fact-checking unit in December last year, to curb such misinformation and viral fake news related to the government’s schemes and policies that are circulated on social media platforms.
