Fact Check: UPSC has not reduced the age limit for candidates from 32 to 26 years

New Delhi (NVI): A Hindi newspaper has claimed that the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has reduced the age limit of general category candidates in civil services examination from 32 years to 26 years.

The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has investigated the viral news and found it to be fake. It said that no such decision has been taken by the Commission.

“#Claim: In a news article, it is being claimed that the maximum age for taking the UPSC Civil Examination for students of general category is going to decrease from 32 years to 26 years.

#PIBFactCheck: This claim is fake. No such decision has been taken by UPSC,” the PIB tweeted in Hindi.

The tweet has a screenshot of Hindi newspaper what appears to be a fake news widely circulating on WhatsApp.

According to the notification issued for the year 2020 Civil Services Examination, the candidate must be more than 21 years of age and the upper age limit is 32 years for general candidates.
