New Delhi (NVI): Farmers protesting over farm bills have called for a fast on January 30, saying that they would celebrate the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi as ‘Sadbhavna Divas’.
Singhu and Tikri borders in Delhi today turned tense as a group of men claiming to be locals clashed with farmers who are protesting against the farm bills. The locals tried to enter the protest site as police had to lob tear gas shells to disperse the clashing groups.
Several policemen, including a Delhi Police SHO have also been injured in the clashes.
The fresh violence comes two days after locals staged a protest against farmers on Thursday, demanding their removal from Singhu border. Local villagers have complained that the two-month-long protest has affected their commuting and livelihood.
