Srinagar, Jan 05 (NVI): Flight operations at Srinagar International Airport were disrupted today due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, leading to the cancellation of at least 10 flights so far, an official confirmed.
The persistent poor weather conditions have made landings and takeoffs difficult, leaving passengers stranded and causing widespread inconvenience. The situation mirrors disruptions experienced in the region just a week ago, when several flights were canceled during the last week of December due to similar weather challenges.
Airport authorities have advised passengers to stay updated on flight schedules and check with their respective airlines before heading to the airport. “We are closely monitoring the weather conditions and working with airlines to minimize inconvenience,” an official said.
Fog and other adverse weather conditions are common in Kashmir during the winter months, often affecting air travel. Passengers have expressed frustration over the repeated cancellations, urging authorities to enhance infrastructure and technology to handle low-visibility conditions more efficiently.
Authorities have assured travelers that normal operations will resume as soon as visibility improves, and airlines are providing necessary assistance to affected passengers. Further updates on the situation are expected throughout the day (News Vibes of India)
