Srinagar, Aug 17 (NVI): Ahead of assembly elections, Former Minister Taj Mohiuddin and several former Congress leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, who had previously parted ways with the party, are planning to rejoin.
Speaking at a press conference, Taj said that after having discussion with his workers, he is planning for a Ghar Wapsi to Congress Party, with which he has been associated for more than 40 year’s.
Upcoming assembly elections will be fought on development issue, he added.
His rejoining is seen as a set back for Ghulam Nabi Azad led DPAP.
The move comes as the Congress seeks to strengthen its base in the Union Territory ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Among those expected to return are prominent figures such as Gulzar Wani, Amin Bhat, and Abdul Majeed Wani.
Sources said that other leaders like Usman Majeed and Peerzada Manzoor are also in touch with Congress and they are also expected to join the party.
These leaders, who had distanced themselves from the Congress in the past due to various reasons, are now said to be in discussions with the party’s central leadership.
Their return is seen as a strategic move to consolidate the party’s position in the region, particularly in the face of growing political competition.
The Congress has been actively working to bring back key members who had left, recognizing their influence and support base in their respective areas.
If these leaders rejoin, it could significantly boost the party’s prospects in the forthcoming elections, as they bring with them years of experience and a strong following.
Notably congress on Friday changed their JKPCC president and Tariq Hameed Kara has been given the responsibility now.
Sources belive that Karra was already in touch with these leaders and after taking charge of JKPCC, these leaders are now ready to join the party as they were not happy with the performance of former JKPCC president Viqar Rasool Wani. (News Vibes of India)
