New Delhi (NVI): Indian Railways have been providing hand-held Fog Pass devices to loco pilots in fog-affected areas to improve the punctuality of trains and minimise chances of mishaps.
Fog Pass device is a GPS-based hand-held portable device that serves as an aid for the crew during foggy weather through the audio-visual alarm, whenever any landmark comes within the geo-fence range.
As on March 1, 2021, 12,742 Fog PASS Devices have been provided on Indian Railways, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Railways.
This information was given by the Minister of Railways, Piyush Goyal, in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
