Peshawar: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) tonight said it killed and injured many Pakistani soldiers while foiling an army raid in Kalachi district of Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province today.

It said the “napak” (impure) Pakistan army surrounded Midi village of Kalachi district at night with an aim of targetting TTP fighters there.

“In the morning, a gunfight took place between the mujahideen and the army in which one of our comrades, Muhammad Ikram, was martyred,” TTP spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said in a statement.

He said the TTP fighters fired rockets which hit 2 army vehicles, killing and injuring many army personnel.

“The army showed its cowardice by demolishing the houses of three comrades,” the TTP spokesman said.

In a separate incident today, TTP fighters clashed with the police on CPEC road in Isa Khel of Mianwali in Punjab province, he said.

Many police personnel were killed and injured in this gunfight, while Mujahideen managed to escape safely, Khurasani added.

Earlier, last night at around 9 o’clock, the “napak” Pakistan Army tried to ambush TTP mujahideen in Bara Tirah Maidan area of Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, he said.

“However, timely counter-action by the mujahideen foiled their (army’s) intentions and killed several army personnel,” the TTP spokesman said, adding the Mujahideen remained completely safe.
