New Delhi (NVI): The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has announced women entries to be free to all ASI protected monuments on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8 this year.
This also includes the world’s most visited monument Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
Prahlad Singh Patel, Union Minister of State for Culture & Tourism, said that India has a great tradition of respecting women and we believe that wherever women are given their due respect, even the deities like to reside there and where they are not respected, all actions remain unfruitful.”
He also said that it is a small gesture from Ministry of Culture to the women power of the world.
Prahlad said that ASI is fully committed towards safety and security of women visiting its monuments. He said that in this direction a Baby care and Feeding Room was has also been made functional at Taj Mahal.
Women will be allowed free entry to various other monuments like Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Humayun’s Tomb, Ellora caves, and the Ajanta caves.
