Srinagar, Jan 06(NVI): Fresh snowfall in the Kashmir, including Srinagar, has thrown air travel into disarray, with all morning flights at Srinagar Airport delayed today due to adverse weather conditions.
Since late Sunday evening, the region has experienced persistent snowfall, impacting visibility and safe flight operations.
Javed Anjum, Director of Srinagar Airport, stated that flight operations have been delayed until 11 a.m., adding that operations would resume if weather conditions improve. “The runway is clear, and we are monitoring the situation closely. Flights remain on standby, and operations will restart as soon as the weather permits,” he explained. He said that the run way will be cleared in a few hours.
This disruption follows Sunday’s complete cancellation of flight operations at the airport, as dense fog reduced visibility to zero throughout the day. These consecutive days of travel disruptions have caused inconvenience to passengers, many of whom are stranded or forced to reschedule their plans.
As the winter season intensifies in the Valley, travelers are being urged to stay updated on flight schedules and make arrangements for potential delays. The weather remains unpredictable and officials have advised passengers to contact their airlines for the latest updates before heading to the airport (News Vibes of India)
