New Delhi (NVI): The total number of coronavirus cases globally has increased to over 11 million, with over 5,23,000 deaths.
At least 5.7 million patients have recovered worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins University statistics.
In the US, the total number of cases stand around 2.79 million while more than 1,29,400 people have lost their lives due to the deadly virus.
Brazil, the second most affected country from COVID-19 after the US, recorded 42,223 cases within 24-hours and surpassed 1.5 million mark. The country’s death toll stands at 63,174.
Saudi Arabia passed milestone of 200,000 confirmed novel coronavirus cases, weeks before the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
The countries around the world including the US, India, Denmark, and Italy have started the process of lifting the lockdown by easing restrictions despite the number of cases continues to rise.
Meanwhile, emphasising on wearing of face masks and social distancing, the World Health Organisation’s emergencies chief Michael J. Ryan said, “we need to put up a fight now during a peak in the current wave of the coronavirus pandemic, rather than focusing on when a second wave might come.”
