New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 137.4 million, with over 2,959,000 deaths reported. Over 78.2 million patients have been cured of the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.
In the US, the total number of coronavirus infection has reached to more than 31.3 million, while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 5,63,000 in the country.
Brazil’s coronavirus cases have crossed the 13.5 million-mark and stand at 13,599,994 while the number of deaths has surged past 3,58,000.
Furthermore, Turkish President Tayyip Recep Erdogan announced several new restrictions and a “partial closure” for the first two weeks of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan to curb a rise in coronavirus infections.
Turkey recorded 59,187 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, health ministry data showed on Tuesday – the highest daily rise since the beginning of the pandemic. The total number of cases now stands at 3.962 million.
Mexico’s government reported 4,293 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 592 more fatalities, according to data from the health ministry on Tuesday. It brings the country’s total to 2,286,133 infections and 210,294 deaths.
Meanwhile, Canada said it had recorded its first case of blood clotting with low platelets after someone received the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, according to a health ministry statement.
