New Delhi (NVI): The total number of coronavirus cases globally has increased to over 12.4 million, with over 5,59,000 deaths.
At least 6.8 million patients have recovered worldwide, according to Johns Hopkins University statistics.
In the US, the total number of cases stand around 3.2 million while more than 1,34,000 people have lost their lives due to the deadly virus.
Brazil, the second worst hit country from COVID-19 after the US, recorded 45,000 cases within 24-hours and surpassed 1.8 million mark. The country’s death toll exceed 70,000.
In terms of confirmed coronavirus cases, Russia, which is now in the fourth position, has recorded 712,863 cases, with 481,316 patients having recovered from the disease. The country also recorded 11,000 deaths linked to the virus.
In Germany the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has increased by 378 to 198,556. The reported death toll rose by six to 9,060.
Meanwhile, Iraqi legislator Ghida Kambash died on Friday after contracting with coronavirus, becoming the first member of Iraq’s parliament to succumb to the virus as its spreads across the country.
Apart from that, the World Health Organisation has called on countries to be more aggressive and step up control measures as the number of coronavirus cases continue to soar.
