More than 1.63 million patients have recovered from the deadly disease globally.
In the US, more than 1.44 million COVID-19 cases have been recorded with at least 87,000 deaths.
The number of deaths in the US is projected to exceed 100,000 by June 1, according to media reports.
With more than 2,62,000 infections, Russia now has more confirmed coronavirus cases than any country other than the US.
The UK accounts for the second highest COVID-19 related deaths worldwide at 34,078.
Spain, which is also among the worst-hit countries, will ease some coronavirus related restrictions.
Italy will allow international travel to and from the country starting June 3.
Meanwhile, the United States government plans to stockpile hundreds of millions of doses of coronavirus vaccines that are currently under development, as per media reports.
In Mexico, confirmed coronavirus cases rose to 45,032, according to the health ministry.
