New Delhi (NVI): In its own unique way to aid Government’s mission of plastic-free India by 2022, the Ministry of Tourism has launched an innovative ‘Plastic Shramdaan’ programme across tourist sites in the country.
“Ministry of tourism is creating awareness through the offices under its control they are creation for eradication of single-use of plastic (SUP) among the tourists such through special campaigns like ‘plastic shramdaan’ at famous places,” Minister of State of Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel informed Lok Sabha in a written reply.
The Ministry is organising cleanliness drives and collecting and disposing of plastic waste at various important tourist destinations with the help of educational institutes, locals and volunteers.
Further, the Ministry advised all States and UTs to take steps to create awareness among the locals and tourists about eradication of SUP in the tourist places and to special ‘plastic shramdaan’ programmes.
