New Delhi (NVI): After being shutdown for more than five months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, gyms and yoga institutes have been allowed to reopen in Delhi from today.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in a late night order yesterday, said that gymnasiums and yoga institutes will be permitted to reopen in the national capital, except in the containment zones, with immediate effect on condition that they strictly follow all the COVID-19 protocols.
As per the order, the Delhi government has also allowed weekly markets to resume function on a trial basis till September 30 under the fourth phase of the easing of lockdown restrictions.
This decision to reopen gyms and yoga centres comes at a time when the coronavirus cases in the national capital are increasing rapidly.
Under Unlock-4, Delhi has already allowed metro services to resume operation. While restaurants, bars, hotels and clubs have also been allowed to open with strict regulations in place.
However, the tally of coronavirus cases in Delhi rose to 2.18 lakh with 4,235 people contracting the virus in past 24 hours, while 29 new fatalities in the last 24 hours pushed the death toll to 4,744.
