Shivani Jain is into highly competitive fashion garment business with her label ‘Shivani Pret a Couture ‘ . She is a NIFT New Delhi pass out and trained in Fashion Designing. Excerpts from an interview with Dwijendra Kumar:

Q. How has been your journey as an Independent player in the fashion garment segment?

Ans. As an independent player, my journey in the business of fashion has been very challenging. Begining as a fresher to establish a fashion garment label was just like cracking water from stones. It required hard work, determination, patience, motivation and inspiration and above all blessings from patents.

To create one’s own label is every fashion designer’s dream. But this is a very challenging job and going gets tougher with each passing day. We can’t avoid the financial part before thinking to start own label. Good planning and analysis are must. If one fails to do so, it may end up even before it begins. Skilled team is the backbone of any label.

Q. Tell us about your fashion label?

Ans. I m Delhi based fashion designer. I started my label Shivani Jain Pret a Couture in 2013. The label produces leisurely style with contemporary touch which reflects the excellence of Indian craftsmanship and artistry for traditional wedding wear, contemporary, western formal and semi formal.

Q. What else you do as fashion designer?

Ans. I have been associated with number of Government projects where i worked as Designer and as Consultant.

Q. What would you advise to those who want to launch their own label or start a boutique?

Ans. One should have target clients in mind before promoting a label or boutique. Also what clients wants from your label or expect your products to be like. Work to identify best social media channels, target ads, affiliate marketing etc. to promote your label or boutique.

Q. Did a course in Fashion Designing came handy when u actually began to work on creating your apparel line?

Ans. Fashion designing course helped me to give a shape and definition to my creative thoughts. It helped me to understand as to how to cover miles to reach the destination. Colour theory, silhouette story, fabric science, fabric ornamentation etc worked as base to begin the journey.
