Heavy rainfall likely in several parts of India today

New Delhi: Several parts of the country are expected to receive heavy to extremely heavy rainfall today, government weather forecaster IMD said today.

According to IMD, “Heavy to very heavy rainfall expected at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Konkan & Goa and Bihar.”

Heavy rainfall at isolated places over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya, Madhya Maharashtra.

“Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe and TamilNadu, Puducherry & Karaikal are also likely to receive heavy rainfall,” the weather forecaster said.

Thunderstorm with lightning & squall (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) very likely at isolated places over East Rajasthan, it said in its daily weather bulletin.

Lightning and gusty winds reaching up to 30-40 kmph) very likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Telangana, Kerala, Mahe.

Squally weather (wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph) very likely over the Andaman Sea and along with the Andaman Islands, North and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal along and off West Bengal coast, it said.

Speed reaching 40-50 kmph Gulf of Mannar, along with & off Kerala-Karnataka-Goa-Maharashtra-Gujarat coasts.

Strong Winds (speed 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph) over the southwest, west-central and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea . Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas, the IMD said.
