Jammu, Mar 23 (NVI) : Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan will chair a high-level meeting on Monday to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and assess the financial status of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) for the financial year, along with projections for 2026–27.
Sources that the meeting, scheduled at 2:30 pm, will be held via video conferencing from New Delhi, with top civil and police officials from the Union Territory expected to participate.
Sources said senior officers including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, along with officials from Police Headquarters and IGPs of Jammu and Kashmir zones will attend the बैठक.
The review comes amid intensified anti-terror operations across upper reaches and forest areas, aimed at tracking militants and dismantling their support networks. The timing is also significant as it coincides with the closing phase of the financial year 2025–26.
Sources said the Union Home Secretary is expected to take stock of ongoing operations, particularly in mountainous belts of Jammu division where the presence of foreign militants is suspected. With summer approaching, security forces are likely to scale up operations further.
The role of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and efforts to dismantle their networks will also be discussed, as agencies continue their crackdown on militant support systems.
Apart from security, the meeting will review JKP’s financial performance during the current fiscal and its budgetary requirements for the next financial year. Officials said modernization of the police force remains a priority, with further upgrades under consideration.
The meeting will also assess follow-up actions on previous security and development-related reviews conducted by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Home Secretary, sources added. (NVI)
