Jammu, Jan 26(NVI): A late-night email threat, sent by an individual using the alias “Dise Lish”, prompted an intensive security operation at M.A. Stadium, Jammu, just hours before the Republic Day function.
The email, received by official accounts of multiple government departments, including the secretary and director of higher education, led to the deployment of bomb disposal squads and senior police officers, who carried out a meticulous search of the venue.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha was scheduled to unfurl the national flag and inspect the march past at the stadium, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah attending as the guest of honour. Despite the heightened precautions, no suspicious items were discovered, and the email was deemed a hoax.
Authorities have constituted a special investigative team to identify the sender and ensure they are held accountable. Preparations for the Republic Day celebrations continue as planned.(News Vibes of India)
