Srinagar, Aug 31 (NVI): Stating that India is a federal structure, National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that he hoped that ‘Achay Din’ good days will return soon in J&K and rest of the country.
“In a federal structure, we have to protect Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Buddhists. India is a federal structure. Be it Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Maharashtra or Kashmir, there are different cultures and religions. So we have to protect every one,” he said while talking to reporters after paying obeisance at the revered shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makdoomi (RA) popularly known as Makdoom Sahib.
About JeI’s decision to join the poll pray, Dr Farooq said he was happy to see Jamaat fighting polls in J&K. “I believe good days (Achay din) will come soon,” he said. Replying to a query about PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti’s recent assertions that NC introduced “Halaal and Haraam terms for elections”, the NC president said that he doesn’t want to go into what PDP chief has stated. “I can only pray for her (Mehbooba). Let her work for the betterment of people of J&K,” he said.
To a query about rejection of nomination papers of many leaders, Dr Farooq said he can’t comment on the development. “I am not in the government nor am I part of the Election Commission. I can’t comment on rejection of nomination papers of some leaders,” he said. (News Vibes of India)
