Srinagar, Aug 27 (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness generally hot and humid weather till August 30, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers at scattered places, particularly during the early morning and afternoon hours, the Meteorological department said on Thursday.

Director of the Meteorological Centre, Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, said weather conditions are expected to remain generally hot and humid across the Union Territory during the next few days.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at many places on August 31 and September 1, with brief intense showers possible at some locations.

The weather department has cautioned that intense showers at isolated places during this period could trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides, and advised people in vulnerable areas to remain cautious.

From September 2 to 7, the weather is expected to remain generally dry, although brief spells of rain or thundershowers may occur at scattered places during the early morning and afternoon hours.

Farmers have been advised to continue harvesting and other agricultural activities as per the advisory issued by the Meteorological Centre.(NVI)
