IAF chief visits Rafale Conversion Training Center at Merignac-Bordeaux airbase in France

New Delhi (NVI): Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria today visited Rafale Conversion Training Center (CTC) in Merignac-Bordeaux airbase in France and interacted with the IAF contingent at the facility.

The IAF chief visited the CTC facility on the second day of his five-day visit to France. Bhadauria is in France on an invitation from Gen Philippe Lavinge, Chief of Staff of French Air and Space Force (FASF), on ways to further expand cooperation between the two sides.

“CAS visit to France- Day 2 Air Chief Mshl RKS Bhadauria visited Rafale Conversion Training Center (CTC), Bordeaux- Merignac and interacted with the IAF contingent at the CTC facility,” the IAF said in a tweet.

“In the latter part of the day, CAS along with Gen Lavigne, Chief of Staff @Armee_de_lair, visited Saint-Dizier Air Base.They were received by the Base Cdr, Col Julien Fourneret who conducted the Chiefs on a tour of the resident fighter sqns and other op & maintenance units,” the IAF said in another tweet.

In a significant development, the fifth batch of Rafale fighter aircraft arrived in India late yesterday, after a direct ferry from Merignac airbase. The IAF fighters flew a distance of almost 8,000 kms with air-to-air refuelling support by the French Air Force and UAE Air Force. IAF also thanked both the Air Forces for their cooperation, in a tweet.
