IAF resumes operations to douse wildfire in Nagaland's Dzukou valley

New Delhi (NVI): The Indian Air Force today resumed Bambi Bucket operations to douse wildfire in Dzukou valley at the Nagaland-Manipur border, with the Army also joining in to provide all possible support.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other state agencies have also joined hands with IAF and Army to douse the wildfire that continues to spread towards Manipur.


“Continuation of Operations #DzoukuValley. IAF helicopters resumed Bambi Bucket operations today towards dousing the fire in Dzouku Valley near Kohima. Four Mi-17 helicopters have been deployed at Dimapur & Rangapahar for the task,” the IAF said in a tweet today.

“#IndianArmy join hands with #IAF, #NDRF & state agencies in providing all possible support in dousing the wildfire in #DzukouValley in #Nagaland & #Manipur,” PRO Defence, Kohima said in another tweet.

The Dzukou range in which the majestic Dzukou valley, a tourist hot spot in Nagaland is located, caught fire on Tuesday afternoon.

On Friday, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh made an aerial survey of the fast-spreading fire. The same day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had assured of assistance to the Manipur CM.
