Srinagar (NVI): An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was detected and defused by security forces at Nutnusa on Srinagar-Kupwara highway in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district today, police said.
An official said that around 5 kgs of explosive device was detected by a joint team of security forces including Army, Police and CRPF at Nutnusa on the highway. It was later defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) without causing harm to anyone.
The official said that the traffic was also halted on the Srinagar-Kupwara highway for a short while which was restored later without causing inconvenience to any.
“Soon after, the security forces detected an IED at Nutnusa, a combined team of police and army reached the spot along with the bomb disposal squad (BDS), who later defused it without causing harm to any away from the civilian population”, the official said, adding that the traffic was later restored on the highway.
