Srinagar, Jan 21(NVI): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V. K. Birdhi today said that elaborate security arrangements are in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the Republic Day celebrations in Kashmir.
Speaking during his review of the security preparations at Bakshi Stadium, the venue for the main function on January 26, the IGP emphasised that all measures have been taken to maintain law and order across the region.
Meanwhile, IGP Birdhi confirmed the conclusion of a counter-terror operation in Zaloora, Sopore. Unfortunately, the operation resulted in the loss of one soldier, underlining the challenges faced by security forces in maintaining peace. He praised the dedication of the personnel involved and reiterated the commitment of the forces to safeguard the Republic Day celebrations.
The security arrangements are part of a region-wide effort to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incidents, with heightened vigil across sensitive areas.
