IMD predicts heavy rains over eastern states of India

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over eastern parts of India.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Assam & Meghalaya,” the IMD said today.

“Heavy rainfall at isolated places expected over of Gangetic West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe,” it said.

The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms accompanied with lightning at isolated places over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal & Sikkim.

“Parts of Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Konkan & Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe would also witness thunderstorm along with lightning,” it added.
