New Delhi: India is likely to get some respite from heatwave conditions for the next 5 days as the weather department has predicted heavy rainfall along with hailstorms and gusty winds over several parts of country for the next 2 to 5 days.
According to India Meteorological Department, “No heatwave condition is likely to develop over any parts of the country during next 5 days except over West Rajasthan, where isolated heatwave conditions are likely on 27th & 28th May 2022.”
“Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand; isolated rainfall activity over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh today and reduction from tomorrow, the 25th May 2022,” the IMD said.
Duststorm activity at isolated places is very likely over West Rajasthan today.
Scattered to fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal & Sikkim during the next 3 days and over Northeast India during the next 5 days, the IMD said.
Isolated Thundersquall (50-60 kmph/hail is very likely over Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha today.
Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over Odisha today and over Assam- Meghalaya on 27th & 28th May 2022.
Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall/thunderstorm/lightning with heavy rainfall very likely over Kerala & Mahe during next 5 days, the IMD said.
Squally weather (wind speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) is very likely over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal, Gulf of Mannar and southwest Bay of Bengal.
Squally weather (wind speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) over southeast Arabian Sea along & off south Kerala coast & Lakshadweep area on 24th & 25th May.
Strong winds of 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph likely over northeast Arabian Sea along and off north Gujarat coast on 24th May.
The IMD further predicted that no significant change in maximum temperatures likely over most parts of Northwest & Central India today and rise by 3-5°C over northwest India & by 2-4°C over central India thereafter.
No significant change in maximum temperatures very likely over rest parts of the country during next 5 days, it said.
