New Delhi (NVI): With 11,831 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, India’s coronavirus cases tally reached 10,838,194, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.
84 new COVID-19 fatalities have been reported across the country, taking the death toll to 1,55,080.
Currently, more than 1.05 crore patients have been cured an recovered across the country, while the active cases dropped to 1.48 lakh mark and stands at 1,48,609.
In worst-affected Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 20,44,071 followed by Kerala with 9,68,438 and Karnataka with 9,42,518 positive cases.
The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh, (8,88,423), Tamil Nadu (8,41,797), Delhi (6,36,035) and Uttar Pradesh (6,01,385)
Meanwhile, more than 58 lakh people, mostly healthcare workers, have been vaccinated under India’s inoculation drive that began on January 16.
The country is set to receive the most number of Covid-19 vaccine doses in the initial distribution from the World Health Organization’s Covax initiative, at a time when India’s supply of shots outstrips demand.
