New Delhi (NVI): The eighth edition of India and China military drill ‘Hand-in-Hand 2019’ will be held in Umroi near Shillong, Meghalaya from December 7 to 20.
The aim of the exercise is to practice joint planning and conduct of counter terrorist operation in semi urban terrain, an official statement said.
The exercise schedule is focused upon training on various lectures and drills associated with counter terrorist handling and firing with each others weapons, battle obstacles course, special heliborne operations and case studies of various operations carried out in counter terrorist environment.
Two tactical exercise scheduled during the training are on counter terrorism scenario and Humanitarian and Disaster Relief (HADR) Operations.
The Chinese contingent from the Tibet Military command comprising of 130 personal and the Indian contingent of similar strength, will participate in the 14 day-long training exercise.
The drill is planned at the company level with respective Battalion Headquarters controlling the training.
The 7th edition of the joint military exercise was held in Chengdu area of China.
Notably, the Hand-in-Hand started in 2007 in Kunming but was halted after the Chinese troops came to Belgaum in Karnataka for the second edition. The drill resumed five years later in 2013 as both countries had suspended their military ties because of a visa row.
