New Delhi (NVI): With 40,715 new coronavirus infections being reported in the last 24 hours, nearly 13 percent lower than yesterday, the overall tally has climbed to 11,686,796, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.
India has recorded more than 40,000 positive cases for the fourth consecutive day. The country recorded 46,951 fresh Covid cases on Monday and 43,846 cases on Sunday.
The death count climbed to 1,60,166 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 199 lives during this period, the data showed.
Currently, more than 1.11 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stands at 11,181,253.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 active caseload increased to 3,45,377 with an increase of 10,731 cases in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra has reported 24,645 new cases since yesterday. Furthermore, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have also been showing a worrying surge Covid cases.
With this, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 25,04,327 COVID-19 cases followed by Kerala with 11,05,467 and Karnataka with 9,71,647 positive cases.
The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh (8,94,044), Tamil Nadu (8,68,367), Delhi (6,48,872) and Uttar Pradesh (6,08,076).
