India records 13,742 new Covid infections, 104 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi (NVI): With 13,742 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, India’s coronavirus cases tally reached 11,030,176, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.

The death count climbed to 1,56,567 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 104 lives during this period, the data showed. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.42 per cent.

Currently, more than 1.07 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stand at 10,726,702. The recovery rate now stands at 97.24 per cent.

Meanwhile, there are 1,46,907 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country, which comprises 1.34 percent of the total caseload, the data stated.

Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 21,12,312 COVID-19 cases followed by Kerala with 10,40,903 and Karnataka with 9,48,849 positive cases.

The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh (8,89,409), Tamil Nadu (8,49,166), Delhi (6,38,173) and Uttar Pradesh (6,02,975).

At the same time, more than 1.19 crore people have been given the COVID-19 vaccine in India so far.
