India records 1,84,372 new Covid cases, 1,027 deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi (NVI): In the biggest-ever single-day spike of Covid-19 cases, India recorded 1,84,372 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours.

The overall tally has now climbed to 13,873,825, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.

The death count climbed to 1,72,085 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 1,027 lives during this period, the data showed.

Yesterday, India had recorded 1,61,736 new coronavirus cases. Apart from that, 879 new COVID-19 fatalities were reported across the country on Tuesday.

India is the 2nd worst-hit nation in terms of total Covid-19 cases and the 3rd worst-hit country in terms of active cases.

Currently, more than 12.3 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stands at 12,336,036.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 active caseload increased to 13,65,704 with an increase of 1,01,006 cases in the last 24 hours.

Of the 1,84,372 cases, India counted on Tuesday, more than 60,000 infections were reported from Maharashtra, while Delhi reported more than 13,000 cases.

The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (3,519,208), Kerala (1,172,882), Karnataka (1,074,869), Tamil Nadu (940,145), and Andhra Pradesh (928,664).
