New Delhi (NVI): India’s overall Covid tally has reached 1,08,26,363 with 12,059 fresh coronavirus cases and 78 related deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s latest data.
The fresh fatalities have pushed the death toll to 1,54,996. Notably, India recorded its lowest number of daily deaths caused by the novel coronavirus this morning, since May 1 last year.
The total number of active cases in the country is now down to 1.48 lakh, which is 1.37 per cent of the country’s total caseload.
Yesterday, the Centre had asked states and Union Territories to exponentially increase the pace of COVID-19 vaccination.
The states and UT’s have been asked to improve the momentum and accelerate the coverage as the country moves forward with the COVID vaccination drive, the Union Health Ministry said in a statement.
Meanwhile, India has successfully vaccinated more than 5.6 million health and frontline workers within 22 days of the launch of the immunisation drive.
The global Covid-19 tally has crossed 105.7 million mark while around 2.30 deaths due to the virus have been recorded across the globe, according to Johns Hopkins University tracker.
