India reports 14,264 new Covid cases, 90 fresh deaths

New Delhi (NVI): India has reported 14,264 new Covid-19 cases and 90 fresh deaths due to the deadly infection in the past 24 hours, as per the latest data available with the Health Ministry.

The active caseload in the country stood at 1,45,634 with 1,09,91,651 total infections. 1,56,302 people have succumbed to the virus so far.

Meanwhile, the global coronavirus cases stand at 11,16,40,270 with 24,71,466 total deaths. 8,68,08,699 people have recovered from the virus across the globe so far.

The US, which is the worst-hit country in the world, has the highest number of cases and deaths at 2,80,04,311 and 4,95,693 respectively, according to the Johns Hopkins University Covid dashboard.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vijay Wadettiwar has said that the state government may impose a 12-hour night curfew (5 pm to 5 am) in case the Covid-19 cases continue to increase. As per reports, a meeting will be held with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai next week to finalise the decision.
