India reports 2023 Covid deaths, nearly 3 lakh fresh cases

In the biggest daily increase yet, India reported nearly 3 lakh fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours which pushed the country’s caseload to over 15.6 million. India, however, reported the highest-ever single-day spike in Covid-related deaths with 2,023 fatalities.

The death toll from the deadly infection stands at 182,570. The country now has over 2.1 million active cases.

India on Tuesday registered 2,59,170 new Covid-19 cases, and 1,761 deaths.

PM Modi on Tuesday cautioned people, asking them to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour to avoid a lockdown like last year.

Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 62,097 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to over 39.6 lakh. Along with the lockdown-like restrictions that are already in place in the state, more restrictions are likely to come into force.
