New Delhi (NVI): In yet another biggest single-day surge in coronavirus cases, India today reported 2,61,500 fresh cases in the last 24 hours and 1,501 related deaths, according to the Health Ministry data released this morning.

With this, the overall tally of Covid cases in the country has reached 1,47,88,109 and the death toll to 1,77,150. The number of active cases in the country stands at 18,01,316.

As per the Health Ministry dashboard, 12,809,643 people have recovered from the disease. 138,423 Covid-19 patients were cured in the last 24 hours.

This is the fourth consecutive day when the single-day surge in coronavirus cases has crossed the 2-lakh mark in the country. Pertinent to mention here that India is witnessing second wave of the pandemic.

Apart from that, over 110 million people have been vaccinated so far.

India had yesterday reported 2,34,692 fresh Covid cases and 1,341 deaths.

The latest surge in Covid cases in the country has forced many states to impose fresh restrictions, including night curfew and weekend lockdowns to stem the spread of infection.
