New Delhi (NVI): India today recorded 3,49,391 new Covid cases and 2,767 deaths in the last 24 hours, highest single-day surge in the world for third straight day.
The latest surge comes as the country grapples with shortage of oxygen and Covid vaccines. Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat and Kerala contribute 54 per cent of the cases, according to the Health Ministry.

“Our hearts go out to the Indian people in the midst of the horrific COVID-19 outbreak. We are working closely with our partners in the Indian government, and we will rapidly deploy additional support to the people of India and India’s health care heroes,” Blinken said in a tweet.
