New Delhi (NVI) In a new record high, India today recorded 3,52,991 fresh Covid-19 cases and 2,812 deaths, as it witnesses an acute shortage of medical oxygen for corona patients, while the latest support pours in from the US.

The United States has dispatched over five ton of oxygen concentrators, apart from assuring material support to all healthcare workers in India who are fighting a second wave of the pandemic.

This is the fifth straight day when India has reported over 3 lakh cases, with nearly 10 lakh cases reported in the last 72 hours itself. India had yesterday recorded 3,49,391 new Covid cases and 2,767 deaths.

The latest surge in cases has taken the country’s overall toll to 1.73 crore, while 1.95 lakh people have died from the deadly virus so far. Active cases in the country now stands at 28,13,658.

Apart from the US, France, UK and Germany have also offered Covid assistance to India, in view of the latest Covid surge.

Pertinent to mention here that US has said it will immediately deploy supplies and other assistance to India, according to White House, following a telephonic conversation between the National Security Advisers of two countries- NSA Ajit Doval and US NSA Jake Sullivan.

US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have assured help to India amid the pandemic. “Just as India sent assistance to the United States as our hospitals were strained early in the pandemic, we are determined to help India in its time of need,” President Biden said in a tweet while sharing a statement by US NSA Jake Sullivan on his conversation with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval.
