New Delhi (NVI): With 14,989 new coronavirus infections being reported in the last 24 hours, the overall tally has climber to 11,139,516, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.
The death count climbed to 1,57,346 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 98 lives during this period, the data showed. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.42 percent.
Currently, more than 1.08 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stands at 10,812,044. The recovery rate now stands at 97.17 percent.
Meanwhile, there are 1,70,126 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country, which comprises 1.53 percent of the total infections.
Maharashtra remains the worst-affected state with 21,69,330 COVID-19 cases followed by Kerala with 10,64,279 and Karnataka with 9,52,037 positive cases.
The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh (8,90,080), Tamil Nadu (8,52,478), Delhi (6,39,681) and Uttar Pradesh (6,03,711).
Furthermore, over 1.48 crore doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far in the country, said the Union Health Ministry.
It also informed that 2,08,791 people above 60 or those aged 45-60 with comorbidities have been given the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine from Monday 9 am till Tuesday 1 pm.
Moreover, the Centre has deputed teams to Tamil Nadu and Punjab following a surge in COVID-19 cases across various states in the country.
