India sees rise in COVID cases, Omicron cases mount to 1,525

New Delhi: India continues to record steady increase in Covid numbers, with 27,553 new cases, including 94 of Omicron variant, being registered in the last 24 hours.

With this, the total number of Omicron cases across the country has risen to 1,525.

The country registered 284 fatalities in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

The country’s active cases now stand at 1,22,801, while the cumulative death toll has gone up to 4,81,770, it said.

Around 9,249 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 3,42,84,561.

The vaccination figure has reached 1,45,44,13,005 across the country with inoculating 25,75,225 beneficiaries in the last 24 hours, the Ministry said.

Maharashtra has recorded the highest number of Omicron cases followed by Delhi, it said.

The total number of Omicron cases in Maharashtra has risen to 460 and Delhi cases remain at 351.

Yesterday, the country registered 22,775 Covid cases along with 1431 Omicron cases and 406 fatalities in 24 hours.

The country reported 16,764 fresh Covid cases and 220 fatalities in 24 hours, a day earlier.

A day prior to that, the country reported  13,154 fresh Covid cases and 268 Omicron variant cases in 24 hours.

The country reported 9,195 new Covid cases and 302 fatalities in 24 hours on Wednesday.

During the previous 24 hours, the country reported 6,358 fresh Covid cases and 293 deaths.
