Visakhapatnam, Sep 23 (NVI): The 13th edition of the India-Sri Lanka bilateral maritime exercise, SLINEX-26, concluded at Visakhapatnam on September 21, officials said.
Conducted from September 17 to 21, the exercise provided an opportunity for professional interactions, exchange of best practices and enhancement of interoperability between the Indian Navy and Sri Lanka Navy.
The harbour phase featured professional exchanges, cross-deck visits and sporting interactions between personnel of the two navies.
The sea phase involved coordinated maritime manoeuvres, air operations, night replenishment at sea and Special Forces drills, including Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) and slithering operations.
The exercise contributed to strengthening operational coordination and interoperability between the two navies and reflected the close maritime partnership between India and Sri Lanka, officials said.
SLINEX-26 also underscored the two countries’ shared commitment to a secure and stable Indian Ocean Region and supported India’s MAHASAGAR vision and Neighbourhood First policy through enhanced maritime cooperation and capacity building.—(NVI)
