Mumbai (NVI): Indian markets benchmark Sensex and Nifty opened marginally lower today as global investors turned cautious over US President Donald Trump’s impeachment.
The 30-share BSE Sensex after retreating from its record high, was trading 24.89 points or 0.06 per cent lower at 41,533.68 in the opening session.
Similarly, the 50-scrip NSE Nifty slipped 7.60 points or 0.06 per cent to 12,214.30.
Tata Motors was the top gainer in the Sensex pack rising up to 1.86 per cent, followed by Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, M&M, TCS, Vedanta and Infosys.
On the other hand, HUL was the top loser, shedding up to 1.45 per cent. Yes Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI and ONGC were also trading in the red.
Meanwhile, the Indian rupee opened marginally lower at 70.99 against the US dollar in the early trade.
On Wednesday, the Sensex gauge settledat 206.40 points, or 0.50 per cent, up at its all-time closing high of 41,558.57.
While, the Nifty advanced 56.65 points, or 0.47 per cent, to its record closing peak of 12,221.65.
