New Delhi (NVI): Indian Navy warships ferried nearly 3800 oxygen cylinders and other medical supplies from abroad to combat ravaging COVID pandemic.
INS Trikand arrived at Mumbai today with Covid relief material from Qatar. It brought two Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) containers of 20 MT each and 100 Oxygen cylinders, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
INS Jalashwa embarked with 18 Cryogenic Oxygen Tanks and other critical COVID Medical Stores including 3650 Oxygen Cylinders and 39 Ventilators from Brunei and Singapore, arrived Visakhapatnam today, it said.
Around 15 of the 18 Cryogenic Tanks are filled with Liquid Medical Oxygen.
The COVID relief materials including Oxygen Containers and Ventilators were facilitated by the Indian Missions and the consignment are being handed over to Govt agencies in various States and NGOs, the statement said.
Indian Navy has deployed nine ships for COVID relief Operation ‘Samudra Setu II’ for shipment of Liquid Medical Oxygen and associated medical equipment from friendly foreign countries in the Persian Gulf and South East Asia.
