New Delhi (NVI): The total number of coronavirus cases in India increased to 96,08,211 with a single-day rise of 36,652 fresh cases in the past 24 hours, Union Health Ministry confirmed.
The country’s death toll due to the virus rose to 1,39,700, with 512 patients succumbing to the infection since yesterday.
Currently, 90,58,822 patients have been cured an recovered all over the country, while the active cases remained below 5-lakh mark and stands at 4,09,689.
In worst-hit Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 18,42,587 followed by Karnataka with 8,90,360 cases, and Andhra Pradesh with 8,70,675 cases.
Maharashtra has also reported the highest number of fatalities at 47,599 followed by 11,834 in Karnataka and 11,762 in Tamil Nadu.
The other worst affected states are Tamil Nadu (7,87,554), Kerala (6,25,767), Delhi (5,86,125) and Uttar Pradesh (5,51,179).
Meanwhile, the death toll in the national capital rose to 9,497, while 5,48,376 patients in Delhi have recovered so far, the healthy ministry data shows.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, more than 14.5 crore samples tested for COVID-19 up to December 4.
Furthermore, the Delhi government has started collecting data of healthcare workers in the capital, so as to prepare detailed electronic records of those whole will received the COVID-19 vaccine in the first phase, as per the reports.
