New Delhi (NVI): India registered a single-day rise of 92,071 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the overall caseload to 48,46,428, Union Health Ministry confirmed.
The country’s death toll has reached 79,722 with 1,136 fatalities reported during this period.
Notably, the number of active cases stands at 9,86,598, while 37,80,108 patients have been cured and discharged from the hospitals across the country.
In worst-hit Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases climbed to 10,60,308, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 5,67,213 cases, and Tamil Nadu with 5,02,759 cases.
The other worst affected states in the country are Karnataka (4,59,445), Uttar Pradesh (3,22,036) and Delhi (2,18,304).
Maharashtra has also reported the highest number of death toll at 29,531 followed by 8,381 deaths in Tamil Nadu.
The death toll in the national capital surpassed to 4,744, while 1,784,748 patients have recovered so far, the healthy ministry data shows.
According to the Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR), 5,72,39,428 total number of samples were tested in India for COVID-19 upto September 13 and 9,78,500 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government has allowed gyms and yoga centres in the national capital to reopen after being closed for over five months due to the pandemic.
