New Delhi (NVI): India has reported 27,071 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall caseload to 98,84,100, Union Health Ministry confirmed.
The country’s death toll has reached to 1,43,355 with 336 fatalities reported during this period.
So far, 93,88,159 patients have been cured and recovered all over the country while active cases remained below 3.6 lakh and stands at 3,52,586.
In worst-affected Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increase to 18,80,416, followed by Karnataka with 9,01,410 cases, and Andhra Pradesh with 8,75,531 positive cases.
Other states with a high virus hit included Tamil Nadu (7,98,888), Kerala (6,69,330) and Uttar Pradesh (5,65,556).
Meanwhile, of the total deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 48,209 fatalities, followed by Tamil Nadu with 11,944 deaths.
Delhi also reported 1,984 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours, taking the tally to 6,07,454 while the death toll from the virus has reached 10,014 in the national capital.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, more than 15.45 crore samples tested for COVID-19 up to December 13. Of these, 8,55,157 samples were tested yesterday.
Furthermore, Kerala became the latest to join the list of states, including Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, that have promised free coronavirus vaccines to the people.
