New Delhi (NVI): The total number of coronavirus cases in India increased to 92,66,706 with a single-day rise of 44,489 fresh cases in the past 24 hours, Union Health Ministry confirmed.
The country’s death toll due to the virus rose to 1,35,223, with 524 patients succumbing to the infection since yesterday.
So far, 86,79,138 patients have been cured an recovered all over the country and the active cases stands at 4,52,344.
In worst-hit Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 17,95,959, followed by Karnataka with 8,78,055 cases, and Andhra Pradesh with 8,64,674 cases.
Maharashtra has also reported the highest number of fatalities at 46,748 followed by 11,714 in Karnataka and 11,655 in Tamil Nadu.
The other worst affected states are Tamil Nadu (7,74,710), Kerala (5,78,363), Delhi (5,45,787) and Uttar Pradesh (5,33,355).
The death toll in the national capital rose to 8,720, while 4,98,780 patients in Delhi have recovered so far, the healthy ministry data shows.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, more than 13.59 crore samples tested for COVID-19 up to November 25. Of these 10,90,238 samples were tested yesterday.
Meanwhile, Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal directed officers to ensure timely hospitalisation of COVID-19 patients under home isolation in case of emergency to reduce the mortality rate in the national capital.
